Verizon today fianlly introduces the long-awaited android phone for us, which is just the Htc hero that sprint has released it in US, now we learn it will also hitVerizon on November 6th, renamed the Droid Eris and priced at $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement on a voice plan with an e-mail feature or e-mail plan.

The HTc Eris will runs Android 1.5 unlike the motorola Droid with Android 2.0 , but it might be upgraded to 2.0, later. In adddtion, the Eris is thinner and replaces many of the physical buttons with capacitive touch controls, it also comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen (with support for multitouch), 5 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, accelerometer, visual voicemail, GPS and access to the Android market, ian addtion, the device will boxed with an 8GB microSD card. Obviously the Eris is for the standard user who doesn’t want to deal with the nitty-gritty and just wants the product to work well.

Thank you for the good article, I’m very excited. I’ve had my phone for just over a month now and am in reality enjoying the entire loose apps from the android market, being able to have the internet and navigation at my fingertips all of the time. The only less than thought characteristic is the picture/video text messages, as they aren’t downloading properly.
