Verizon HTC DROID Eris Android 2.1 update- No HTC clock widget Issue Fixs

May 18th, 2010 by verizon phones | Filed under Verizon HTC Droid Eris Info, Verizon Phone Problems and solutions.

After I upgrade my HTC Droid Eris for Verizon to Android 2.1 OS, there is one issue appears on my Verizon Droid Eris, which is I can’t find the HTC clock widget on my mobile’s screen, the only widgets are battery, notes, tip calculator, notes and ringtone. At first, I’m very mad. But I find one easy method to fix this issue, now the Android 2.1 works well on my Droid Eris phone. Verizon Phone Problems and solutions

I fixed it by doing a factory reset (this doesn’t go back to v1.5, just makes v2.1 like a fresh install). First backup all of your data because this will erase everything on the phone (not the SD card). If some phone #’s aren’t stored on google, get an app. to back them up. If you have any important calendar events, then backup. I used the tools function from Astro File Manager to back up all apps. Also, you might want to backup your bookmarks. Once everything is backed-up, follow these steps:

1. Turn off the phone. Verizon HTC Droid Eris Info

2. Hold the ‘Volume Down’ button while powering on the phone.

(You should then get a boot screen displaying phone info and options to ‘FastBoot’ and ‘Recovery’)

3. Press ‘Volume Up’ button to proceed to Recovery.

4. Once the image of the phone with the red triangle and exclamation mark appears, hold ‘Volume Up’ button while pressing red ‘Power/End’ button to get to Recovery Menu.

5. Use the ‘Volume Down’ button to scroll down to “Wipe data/factory reset”.

6. Once highlighted, press ‘Power/End’ button to select your selection.

7. Using ‘Volume Down’ scroll down to the ‘Yes’ option and press ‘Power/End’ button.

8. Once complete, the Recovery Menu should reappear and ‘Reboot System Now’ option should be highlighted. Press ‘Power/End’ button to reboot.

9. After reboot, you will have to go through Setup and Verizon Programming (*228, option #1), re-apply all of your settings, restore all backed-up data, and re-install all apps.

After this, all HTC widgets should be back. Hope it works for you! Enjoy!

I just spoke with Amber who is a tech support supervisor and was completely shut down on this problem (HTC eris 2.1 update). All of the well documented phone problems since the update are now happening to my wifes phone and our business is suffering because of it. How can we be compensated for business and customers already lost by my company due to this problem? When i asked who is responsible for the update coming on to the phone, she blamed HTC. My issue is that we bought our phone from verizon and pay money to verizon so why am i needing to call HTC? They are taking advantage of the convoluted mess of having three companies involved being google, HTC and Verizon. Getting the same useless phone as a replacement is not the answer to our problems as we continually lose money with our phone based business. My wife and I were both very happy customers at Verizon until this update and the response. We had a fair proposal that would make the situation right which Verizon will not agree to. Amber compared it to buying a tv at walmart and that any problems with the item must be taken up with the manufacturer outside of the warranty. I say that is apples and oranges since a phone is much different than a TV. This kind of dumb analogy is an insult. It’s more like the cable company(verizon) selling you a tv then zapping it with something that breaks it. Please fix this VERIZON or you will hear from a lawyer soon and lose many customers!
