hey. i too bought my phone around a month ago. i have noticed no problems with my phone, what so ever. I also know of some people that are having battery problems with their enV. They would be charging it all night and it will end up dieing about 4 hours later. Me on the other hand have never even lost a bar of battery life yet. let me know if your brother has any of these problems as well. But, i’m just going to have to say that your brothers problem is just with his phone.
Messages are stored in thread mode, or pre-sorted by sender, not in order they came.
Next time, PLEASE study all you can about a particular cell phone/device BEFORE you commit to buying it. And above all else: READ THE USER GUIDE & MANUALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey! i was thinking on getting the env touch! does it really have problems? should i get a different phone?
Yes, it has a little issue. But it is the best phone amoung Verizon’s current smartphones
The EnV Touch is amazing.I’ve had it for 3 or 4 months and it works perfectly for me.My battery never dies unless i don’t charge it at night. Some times it restarts its self but its all good, you don’t lose anything.
the text message’s can be stored in by either date or contact name. Also has anyone else had a Problem when you delete anywhere from 8 + text message’s & all of a sudden it say’s you have”250 NEW & SAVED TEXT’S & 20 SAVED DRAFT’S”, & when you try to delete them it say’s “Message error filed did not erase & file does not exist” It also wipe’s out your Picture’s, Ring tone’s & Music. Verizon Replaced the Phone 4 Times already for the same problem & they DO NOT KNOW WHAT’S DOING IT. Verizon tech’s told me to bring it to the Verizon Store to get the Version 5 Software Update that LG put out on Nov. 2,2009 that will fix these problem’s. IT NEVER FIXED IT & LG TECH SUPPORT SAID “THERE ARE NO KNOWN ISSUE’S WITH THESE PHONE’S. Does anyone else have these problem’s ?
I have the same problem. when i return to messages it shows some random one. Another problem with this phone is that it shuts off randomly whether im in the middle of a text or its sitting on the table. Sometimes when it turns itself off it resets itself and i lose all of my settings. It also turned on out of no where before while laying on my bed with me nowhere near it. Other than these couple problems, it’s a good phone. But if you get irratated easily, or are often places where a ringing phone whould get you in trouble, it is not the phone for you.
I love my EnV Touch! Yet the screen goes black randomly, and it does restart about once a week. Battery life is great (I charge every night); I text all day every day, call, and use fotos everyday. Overall, it’s great. Just hope they get these software glitches worked out. The restarting is aggrevating.
I have this phone, i love it, EXCEPT it shuts itself on and off constantly. It also resets the settings multiple times a day. It unlocks itself and dials contacts too. I was actually sitting in ISS one day at school, phone off (we are allowed phones as long as they are off) and next thing you know i hear “PLEASE SAY A VOICE COMMAND” at FULL volume. i explained to the teacher that it is a glitched up phone, and he told me to give him the battery til the end of the day. FIX THESE DANG PROBLEMS THEY ARE VERY ANNOYING!
This phone has multiple problems. I’ve already had to replace it once. It constantly shuts itself off, dials or texts people at random, changes my settings, erases all my photos, etc, etc, etc. The replacement device has the same issues, just not as often. In my opinion this phone is a piece of junk and I wish I hadn’t bought it.
i have the env touch and it is the biggest piece of just i have ever experienced. 3 out of the 5 i have had to have replaced i have had less then a week when i notice problems. after the fourth the sent me a brand new one, the week after i noticed the screen went white when i got texts, and now after two weeks it goes black when i get a text. i keep a case on the phone, and screen protectors! its absolutly horrible. i know others with these problems also.
this phone is by far the worst phone i have ever had. in 6 months i have had 2 phones as well as loosing all of my pictures and contacts. my phone restart whenever and goes back to the defalt. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE if you care about everything thats on it.
i have problems with picture messaging with this phone
I have had this phone since July and spent good money on it or I would have thrown it out the window already. The phone constantly resets itself daily, I never use the touch screen any more because I always end up getting frustrated and I pocket call everyone…I do not recommend this phone at all!
I bought the phone like 2 months ago and the battery dies as well and the phone goes black all of a sudden…then to top it all off when i turn it back on it resets it self. I am alson so tired of this phone. DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!
my env touch screen wont work any help or fixing tools???
i hate the env touch i had it for about 6 months now and i regret getting it. it caused me so many problems… it ALWAYS shuts off and resets , which means the wall paper gets changed the font , the volume ,the display menu.so really it changes EVERYTHING. also after making 2 or more calls , the text messsage inbox goes crazy , saying i have 250 NEW text 20 drafts & 160 sent , from nobody. the battery life is very bad, . it doesn’t even get me through the day. when i charge the phone it gets SOO hot i can’t even touch it. does any one have these problems ? i don’t know what to doo.
Powers down without being touched at least once a day. Extremely slow in sending/receiving, erases settings and the screen is already loose despite being very careful with the device. This was hailed as the best phone available from Verizon and has been the worst in quality I have ever had. 2,000 thumbs WAY down.
The longer I have had this phone the more frustrated I get with it. I have had it since August. It pocket dials all the time. It has happened so many times that now I make a point of making sure its locked at all times. It still pocket dials. I have had to make a fake contact in my address book because it kept dialing my first contact repeatedly. I have also just started noticing how it shuts itself off and restarts itself on and off. At first, I thought it was because it was becoming unlocked and my hip was hitting the off button, now however, I have had it happen while it was in my hand and on my table. I am sick of everyone in my contacts telling me that I keep calling them!
Mine has the random shut off issue once a week or so,and it just started this week when you hit the message button on touch screen or the inbox button on the inside screen it shuts off, this only happens if you have over 5 messages saved in your inbox. I have had 3 replacement phones this week. I was told they never saw that happen before.Anyone have same issue or know fix?

I have an enV Touch, and it shuts off on its own, not power cycling, just shuts down, power cycling, and shutting off has been a problem with every enV phone. I know because my family has had every enV to date.
It also locks up sometimes when receiving e-mail or text messages, you have to open the phone for it to start working again, and no, the lock key on the side doesn’t change it.
Also contrary to what “Verizon Phones” called it, it is not a smart phone. At least not according to Verizon. It is close, but not quite a smart phone.
To the people who have the random shutting off problem: Did you take it back to Verizon? I’ve been having the same problem more and more recently (2 times already today alone). However, after reading this and other websites, I’ve seen it is actually a common occurrence and I’m thinking about taking it into the Verizon store.
‘m totally amazed that no one has been on here to discuss the latest news that I heard from my Verizon store this week. I’m extremely disappointed in the Verizon customer service (or lack thereof!) as well as LG’s attempt at keeping their problems hidden by needing “software” updates every month or so.
I’ve had issues with the EnV Touch since 3 months after I bought the thing. I’ve had it for 7 months now.. and I’ve never regretted a phone purchase as much as I regret this one.
I took my phone to a verizon store the other day and they admitted that LG is having a problem!
There’s some type of chip that is supposed to support text messaging in this phone. The software isn’t protecting it and therefore the chip is being destroyed if you are a heavy text messager.
They have replaced my phone a 3rd time. I just got the new one in the mail this morning. Supposedly it has a ‘version 8′ software and a new chip. How nice of them to replace my phone with a used refurbished phone as well. If this continues I, myself will NEVER buy another LG ANYTHING again. This is ridiculous.
I hate the ENV Touch! I feel so ripped off, it was touted as being one of Verizon’s best phones but I have had nothing but problems with mine and my daughter’s. All of the same issues as the rest of you, and the chargers don’t work weel either. As soon as my contract is up I will get an iphone and just be done with it.
This is my THIRD enV Touch. I am beyond frustrated because at least 5 times a day it shuts off and restarts. They keep giving me refurbished phones that have the exact same problem.
I bought my enV touch 2 months ago. I had my new one for 3 weeks before the light sensor stopped working, therefore, I couldnt call voicemail. I sent it back and received a refurb. When I asked why I didnt get a new one, I was told the refurb would have only 10hrs or less on it. I checked and it had 468 hrs of talk time and 32mb of data on the life timer. The refurb worked fine for a few days and is now having all sorts of screen issues varying from intermittent screen freezes, total screen changing colors, or becoming totally unreadable. Im fed up with LG phones. I had the Glimmer before this and it was almost as bad as this enV touch. Sending the phone back tomorrow for a 3rd.
This is my first enV, and i HATE it. It restarts itself and deletes my music and texts. I’ve never had it delete my pictures,a nd the phone is unbeleivably slow at sneding pic messages.
I’ve had my phone for about 3 months. It restarts itself and turns itself off at random (i.e. sitting on my desk [ not in a pocket or anything like that].
It drops calls at random ( I live in a metropolitan area with normally great cell coverage)
I now cannot use the touch screen function and yes, I’ve gone through every step of working through my display and touch settings.
Finally… the backlight on my external screen won’t turn off any longer.
Suprisingly… my battery life is still great.
This is the worst phone I’ve ever had and I will concede that I may have just gotten a ‘lemon’
I had an iPhone.. Decided to try this. I havent had ANY of the probs. u guys have been having WHAT SO EVER NONE!! I looove this phone. Its never shut down, Battery life seems to be fine on mine, everything works, I dont understand how mine works great but my brothers is a crap trap like yours. Idk but I think im going to switch back to at&t and just pay the early contract ending because my brothers shuts off no matter what u do! It will be cheaper to just switch back. Because with the cost of delting his phone then buying a new one and activation and the risk of gettin another crappy one, Its just to risky back to AT&T And my iPhone yayyyyyyy! Thank goodness I didnt sell it! Another thing I just got told not that long ago is some Providers will let u go to ebay buy it even if u have like Sprint and want a Sprint phone on the Verizon network they told me that its possible you wont be able to recieve data. So if u have a provider with crappy service and want better service without buying a new phone and all that, I would try that!
I used to like my ENV Touch but now it has bcome nothing but a royal pain in the back side. I have had it since last July shortly after it came out and it worked okay for a little while and then the phone just starts calling people and then this week the touch screen goes out and the back light is always on dim so it is eatingmy battery alive. I cant get it to do anything. I have tried reprogramming it, resetting it, and also taking the battery out…Does anyone know of another way to get my touch screen to work again?
The enV Touch is the absolute worst phone I’ve ever owned. Mine doesn’t shut down, but 7 out of 10 times it freezes in the middle of sending a text message. The phone won’t turn on or off so the only way to “fix” it is to pop the battery out so it will shut off. I’ve come so close to throwing it in the garbage several times. I’ve had Verizon service for over 15 years and have always had great experiences with them and I’ve never had an issue with their customer service. The phone itself is just awful. Do not purchase this phone – it is completely unreliable and causes nothing but aggravation.
It’s so annoying.
my env touch resets by itself too at times D;
hate it.
I love my phone. It used to shut down in my pocket, but it was because the rear latch was getting dislodged minimally-just enough to turn off the battery.. i taped it and there have been no problems.
remember that the battery is attached to the rear door (lousy design), and any slight movement of the rear door latch in the pocket or handbag can disconnect the battery. Just take a little scotch tape and place over the door latch, and the problem will be solved.
I just replaced my env touch.. the touch just stopped working.. this is after I had numerous issues with powering off, getting stuck when receiving text message along with the various other problems that others on here have had…
I agree, its a horrible phone thankfully my contract is up next month..
I have had this phone for about a year now. I have the problem where it will shut off randomly, and when it does it resets it self. The battery also gives me alot of issues. Other then that everything else works fine.
Nothing is wrong with the phone, the inbox holds 200, and 50 in the sent box.
i’ve had this phone for a month now and i agree that the freezing problem and the constant restarts are very annoying. i was considering getting a replacement, but it sounds like most of the phones are all having the same problems so i’m not sure that getting a replacement would be worth it. but i have to just say…i really can’t manage to work up any sympathy for those folks who are complaining about the pocket dialing and other issues associated with keeping the phones in their pocket. before i even bought the phone, i was warned to not keep it in my pocket for SEVERAL reasons, but frankly i didn’t really need the warning to begin with cause you gotta have less common sense than a hairbrush if you think that your back pocket is a great place to keep ANY phone much less one with a touch screen. you all are lucky that some pocket dialing is the worst thing you did to your $300 phone because i’m pretty sure it doesn’t take an enormous person to crush one. they say the same thing about digital cameras…under no circumstances do they EVER recommend that you keep your camera in your pocket regardless of the fact that it might be small enough to fit in there. i mean come ON people…this is not rocket science. my sympathy goes out to other freezing and restarting victims…but verizon and lg are not responsible for anyone who’s dumb enough to keep their phone in their pocket.
I have the EnV Touch and it has TON of problems. I would not reccommend it to anyone, but it is better than the EnV 3 I used to have. It shuts itself off more and more frequesntly every day. Almost every time it does so it resets all of my settings, i.e. Wallpapers, sound settings, everything. It will also turn itself on on it’s own. I’ve turned it off at doctors offices only to have it repeatedly turn itself back on. Sometimes it lags horribly while I’m texting. On top of all of this it wont turn it’s screen off after the set seconds, either. It drains my battery rather quickly. My final problem that I can think of is that it beeps over and over and over again like i’ve received a text, while I’m talking on it. And I have not received any texts.
This phone is pretty much useless to me, because it wont stay on long enough to text back and forth with someone, it makes it very hard to hear people past the beeping when you talk, and it dies within 7 or 8 hours.
There’s always been a problem signing into Yahoo on it as well.
If anyone has any fixes to any of these problems, that’d be sweet.
My enV Touch (bought it the day after it was released in CA) Has many problems, It almost got me kicked out of my house because i missed a txt from the phone shutting down spontaneously… Besides that it’s decent. I dont recomend it though. 2/5 stars for crappy quality. best phone verizon had at the time? I dont think so.
Is there really all of those problems???? I have been looking at this phone for a long time and really want to get it, but if there is really all of those problems I don’t want to waste my time and money. Please comment i really need some advice from somebody who has this phone!! Please don’t give me advice if you don’t have the phone.
In response to Amber (6/26/2010 at 4:03pm)… I bought this phone approximately 2 months ago. I have gone through two replacement phones just this week. (One of them locked up on me as soon as I activated it.) I activated the final one this morning. If this one has any problems Verizon is giving me a different kind of phone at no cost. Not deleting your text messages will cause it to freeze up. Certain types of multimedia messages will cause it to power off or your touch screen to freeze up. If you take a lot of pics or video, or download a lot of music, you need to have a micro SD card and adjust your memory settings to store these items to the card. If not, you will eat up all the internal memory and that causes all of the above referenced problems to happen with increased frequency. Downloading apps will affect the performance of the phone too because they eat up the phone’s internal memory as well. Once I changed my memory settings I still had the problems, but not as frequently. Regardless of the frequency of the problems, most people want a phone they can depend on and one that is problem-free. I had taken my original phone to the store on two occasions and had the software upgraded. The very next day… problems… both times! I had to removed the battery so many times when the phone would freeze up that eventually the latch that holds the battery in popped out. When I first called Verizon about the problems they said they were not aware of any problems. I asked the guy for his email address and emailed him links to 48 forums on the internet where the problems with this phone were being discussed. One of the links was to the Verizon website because some customers had posted negative reviews right on their website… but they weren’t aware of any problems (SMH). I have 6 friends with this same phone. Five of them have experienced the same problems I have. The one that has not had any problems, does not text… she only receives a few automated messages a month about accounts and stuff, does not download music or apps or any kind, and probably only uses 200 minutes a month talking on the phone. If you are looking for advice… save yourself the headache and buy a different phone.
Yeah, i am going to buy the Touch soon and i need to know fast if im about to make a HUGE mistake!!!!!!!!!
I got this phone after going through the voyager 8 times i thought it was the best phone ever and now it sucks my charger doesn’t work well my battery life is maybe 3 hrs if that as well as it turning off sometimes it just goes off other times it will reset it self ill warn you now don’t get it if you have high expectations for it cause it will be a disappointment…idk if anyone else has this but sometimes it will go fuzzy on the internal screen or have a weird color over it like blue the phone works but it has a color film on it or even just goes all white…. now i get to wait for another phone to come out because i don’t want one refeb and start what i went though over with my voyager…
well i really like this phone but it jus SUKS!!!!!!!!!! it constantly goes back to the default settings (however wen i tell som1 this it stops for about a week then does it several times the next week) an ever since we went to verizon an the asshole jus took the battery out to look at it the phone has been shutting itself off multiple times a day so i don get to see who called me unless they leave a voicemail an im suppose to get a refurbished replacement phone either tuesday or wednesday of july 29th (thursday today) an yet i still don have it so i think this phone is junk…evan this is my 1st phone i no i shouldnt expect much but i have had it since december of 2009 an it started like a month later an only got worse (then especially worse wen the douche from verizon pulled the battery outta the phone)so verizon (however asome sevice) is goin under with this phone an really need to do somthing about it soon!
I have had my phone for a little over a year with no problems until the past month or so. The phone will completely shut off with nothing on the screen except for the Verizon wireless logo….and I cannot turn it back on. I’ve had some success with removing the battery for a while then replacing it (I usually have to do this several times) and I am then able to get the phone to turn back on, but today it has shut off on me several times, and I am now completely unable to get it to power back up…so ready to toss this one in the trash!
I woke up this morning and look at my EV touch and the touch screen is black I didn’t do anything to it but the keyboard screen works? I need help
I’ve had my touch for over a year now, and i love it! I just had to get a new one about 3 months ago because i dropped my old one in my lake, but the new one is the updated one that vibrates to ringtones and has all the updated software….but either way, none of my texts/pics/music has ever erased, i charge my phone every other night and i text nonstop. I haven’t had a single problem with my phone yet and i never want to get rid of it ! the only thing i dont like is the camera on it, other than that it’s wonderful!
I too have bought the env touch, unfortunately. This phone has caused me nothing but problems, it shuts off on its own just about every 10 minutes…i dont receive 80% of my calls, texts, and the screen looks like broken lcd, or is black most of the time. I had this issue also with my env2. Verizon kept replacing them but i still had the problems. I did a study at my school and found out 45% of the people who owned an LG phone from verizon had similar issues. Now my problem is verizon will not even replace my phone. Im outraged by their lack of customer service. I have experinced this issue for too long, and deserve to get to the bottom of it. I want this to be a known issue show people can be warned that this could happen to them. The other issue is because verizon will not replace my phone, i have to pay for a new one plus the early termination fee for my current contract, plus the price of a new one. I am a student and cannot afford that, but to verizon its “not their problem”. Anyone and everyone who has experience this problems, should be heard, and treated to new phones, (within reason) some of us depend on phones, for emergencies and such, and if they don’t work, well what are we supposed to do?
