Ok, I just got my Env Touch yesterday and was trying this Sync with my work outlook. I followed the instruction by installing the USB modem drivers first. Then I installed the Outlook Sync App. I then pluged in my phone and window saw the device and installed the drivers. I pressed the end key on the phone to get it out of Music Sync Mode. I then started Outlook (Outlook 2002) and there is no “LG Outloook Sync” button on the toolbar for me to click to do the sync. What am I doing wrong?
I bought my Env3 yesterday and was trying this Sync with my home Outlook 2003/XP Prof. I followed the instruction by installing the USB modem drivers first. Then I installed the Outlook Sync App. I then pluged in my phone and window saw the device and installed the drivers. I pressed the end key on the phone to get it out of Music Sync Mode. I then started Outlook and then pressed lg Outlook Sync button on the toolbar. It said “Not Connected” I disconnected the phone from the computer several times wait at least 10 seconds and when I reconnected I received the same error message. I tried a different USB port and again the computer recognized it as New Hardware. Still the error persisted. I uninstalled/reinstalled lg Outlook Sync, but still the error message came up. Do you have any suggestions?
Just did the updates to my Lg Env3. Calendar events copied from Outlook to the phone ok, but are 1 hour later on the phone as several others have mentioned. I’ll be testing and looking for a solution here…
I have the LG EnV Touch, but haven’t downloaded the Outlook sync software because of all these posts. I just spoke to a very unfriendly LG Chat rep who said that the Outlook Sync software update is ’still not out and they have no idea when it will be out”. My question is: say I go ahead and play roulette and try to download the glitchy software anyway. If I don’t want to sync my contacts, will I have the option to sync only my calendar??? The LG “Getting Started with LG Outlook Sync” online manual shows a picture with two separate check boxes for each, but it doesn’t explain the purpose of the check boxes. Does anyone know if I can sync just the calendar?
Well, it works well for me
In answer to Chris, I have the software on my XP machine and Outlook 2003. I was not sure about the contacts so I only sync the calendar. It seems to work fine. Yes there is a check box during setup for Calendar and Contacts and you just choose the one (or both). The only thing I have noticed is that the location field does not transfer to the ENV.
In answer to Leonard, I’d go into the phone settings and change the USB Mode to “Ask” instead of letting it default to “Music”. that way you can choose “Data” when you connect the cable.
Like Jerry, I am having the trouble with the appointments being one hour later. I tried messing with the DST on the world clock to no avail. I hope Jerry found something out as this is pretty frustrating.
I too was able to get it to work. Calendar events are on time.
Kurt, my calendar entries on my EnvTouch are still one hour late like Jerry’s. What did you do to get the calendar events on your phone to be the same as those in Outlook?
I think it depends on your timezone settings on your computer. In my case, when I synced, my calendar was off by an hour. I changed my time zone from a EST (with daylight savings box checked) to the Lima, Bogota one (no daylight savings) and resynced and the appointments were at the right times. I would really call this a fix, more of a work around. I had to go back and change my timezone back to EST after syncing because my outlook appointments had moved.
Has anyone figured out an easy fix for this “one hour” problem on the calendar? Thanks
Jason, thanks for the work around. It works for me, but only for new appointments added. Those added earlier remain one hour ahead.
Just ran the sync tool for my new Env3 and it worked great. Contacts and Calender synched successfully. I had to get a new phone because of Microsoft Sync in my car. (I had a Samsung i760 which I got only because I had to replace my phone and palm pilot at the same time.) I had so many issues getting the i760 to work with Microsoft Sync I was at several Verizon stores, I finally gave up after many hours on tech support. A very arrogant salesperson at Verizon tried to tell me it was impossible to Sync data on anything less than SmartPhone or Blackberry because the phone needed an operating system. The kicker being that with a phone like that I was forced to get the data plan !!! He was not worth my time but I cannot believe Verizon would let someone tell such blantant lies. He must of figured because I was a girl I had no idea what an operating system was.
I tried syncing after the daylight savings time change and now appoints are on the correct hour. Perhaps this will be fixed by the time we make the clock switch again.
My contacts sync fine, but nothing syncs on my calendar. I have tried every option on the Sync option menu and I can not get the phone events recgonized. Any suggestions??
I’ve tried several times to load the LG ENV3 sync software on my computer (running Windows Vista and MS Outlook 2007). I cannot get the LG Sync Icon to show in Outlook. Any suggestions?
what are some good verizon pre paid phones to get
Used the Outlook Sync to backup the contacts from my phone to PC but now it seems that I cannot get it to sync my calendar items up to my phone. I also lost all my contacts one time from the phone somehow?
Anyone else have similar issues?
I just got my env touch… ran the outlook sync from my outlook 2007. Everything worked GREAT. I am now syncing.. very cool. The only problem is.. the physical addreses don’t sync.
I see that the touch has physical address entry locations.. why didn’t they make that piece work??? Also, can any of you program gurus out there get that piece to work?? Please? I would paypal you money if someone got that working!!
Thanks!
I got my enV Touch a few months ago, and cannot get the Outllok sync to work. It downloaded the contacts to my phone the first time, not the calendar. Now I cannot get it to happen again. I tried multiple “Micro USB” Cables, un/re-installing multiple times, I can’t get it. I have XP Home, with Outlook 2003. All the sync programs says is not Connected. Can anybody that has this working give me any ideas, or maybe tell me your setup to see if I have something conflicting. Thanks
So I can get this phone, install software myself and sync to Outlook (hopefully)? The Verizon rep said to do this I would have to pay an additional $10 month fee for this. I just want my calendar and contacts and I don’t want to have to pay extra for it. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks.
The “LG Outloook Sync” button was missing on the Outlook toolbar. To get the “LG Outloook Sync” button on the Outlook toolbar I had to run Outlook using Start then Programs then Microsoft Outlook – if I used any existing shortcut to launch Outlook (or if I used the quicklaunch icon by the Start bar – then Outlook would launch but the “LG Outloook Sync” button was missing.
Got it to work on Windows 7. It only worked if I downloaded the LG Modem device driver as the instructions above suggested. The calendar data push from the PC does not sync all item details from MS office to the phone. The contacts sync both ways. Great program so far, thanks!
There is a new version of the outlook sync program 1.0.0.21 that I got from LG technical support at 1-800-793-8896 that seems to work significantly better for me that the previous version I had (1.0.0.19).
I purchased my LG enV3 because of the ability to sync Outlook calendar and contacts without having to purchase a smartphone. Not only do I love the phone but the syncing has worked pretty darned well. The contact syncing process in particular will make you look at how you set up the contact originally (for example, information appearing under the “Company” only and not in the “Full Name” slot will not sync to the device). I have had no problems with a one-hour time difference in my calendar appointments but will be on the lookout when the time changes again in 2010. Don’t let a Verizon rep tell you your LG env3, Touch, or Chocolate Touch cannot sync to Outlook!! They are either not up to date on this or would prefer to sell a smartphone with a more expensive data package.
On Gigi’s post, it was referenced that there was a new version of the Outlook Sync to update from 1.0.0.19 to 1.0.0.21 from the LG tech support. Is this version available as a download anywhere and what things did it fix?
I have encountered a problem with memory. When I sync my calendar, it says I can only hole 300 entries on my LG Env3. Why? I have buckets of memory and already have my 2010 daily work schedule. Am I screwed or is there a way to have my phone hold more calendar items?
Just got the EnV3. Like Mike said above, must launch Outlook from the Start menu to get the LG Outlook sync button to appear. Iritating quirks of the sync software or the phone include: 1) no outlook address (home, office, other) syncs to phone; 2) outlook entries with office phone numbers will only transfer the phone number (without any name) to the phone; 3) only 10 digit phone numbers permitted (I used to put labels after the phone number to identify different locations, like 555-555-5555 Front desk); 4) calendar has a limited number of entries – Jeff, I think it’s the phone that is limited to 300 entries no matter what your memory); 5) new and outlook transferred calendar events all have tones and alerts turned on, which is not what I want. Despite the shortcomings, and coming from a Windows Mobile based smartphone that took forever to boot up, it does contacts and calendar reasonably well enough. I’ve used the free BitPIM to transfer my own ringtones and pictures (set as EnV2), I’m going to try the calendar and contacts through that and see if it’s any better.
Tech Question:
Q
I’m due for a verizon phone upgrade. I’m thinking of getting an EnV3 with the idea to sync Outlook 2007 contacts and calender, so I can ditch my old palm visor.I don’t want to shell out the bucks for a smartphone. I went to a Verizon store today and they looked at me like I came from Mars. They insisted there was no sync with the EnV3 and said they had no cables, drivers or software– and that none existed. So you all must also be from Mars. Can anyone offer any comments or direction on where to get cable, driver, software? Should I just bite the bullet and get a smartphone?
Get a smartphone like a Blackberry or HTC. I have the Env3 and it sucks. Besides the annoyances some things don’t make any sense. Like if you browse the web most sites don’t open unless their “optimized”, but with a “full html” browser I don’t see how that’s possible. If someone sends you and email attachment like a picture you can’t open it with the Env3, nor can you save pictures while browsing the web. Call quality is sub-par, text messages often come through 3 times, or not at all, and good luck texting photos. Most of the time they fail the first time and instead of using the person’s name you have to manually type in the phone number it’s going to. I will never buy another LG phone.
Got my EnV Touch – vx 11000 12/31. Downloaded and installed the outlook sync from LG, but the phone is not being recognized, with either the cable that comes with it or with a separate verizon data cable. Verizon says they don’t support this “sync” – how are you doing it? I just want to sync my calendar/appointmemnts into the phone.
I have the LG enV3 phone and I’ve commented previously that I am luckily having no issues with the Outlook Sync Program. However, in an attempt to always keep current I took Gigi’s suggestion and called LG Technical Support for a newer version of Outlook Sync (from 1.0.0.19 to 1.0.0.21). I learned that that newer version is only available for the Touch and Chocolate phones. This is of no consequence to me because as I indicated I’m having no problems syncing my enV3. However, for those of you owning Touchs or Chocolates and having issues, it might be worth a call to Technical Support: 1-800-793-8896.
Just read through the whole thread and it’s not 100% clear if you use the Outlook Sync Program when the phone is connected to the PC (USB cable / Bluetooth) of if the program allows sync’ing over the data plan automatically?
I’m guessing it the former, but hoping it’s the later…
Was browsing and found this discussion, really had to throw in my two cents on what “Adam Smith” had to say. My question to him is– do you even know how to use your phone? It seriously sounds like you don’t. I NEVER have any of the problems you’ve stated, and neither has my boyfriend; we both have one of these phones.
Gigi, I called tech support at the number you left and they told me the newest version is on the LG website (I have an EnV Touch). However that is still version 1.0.0.19. They told me there wasn’t anything newer than what is out there. How did they give you version 1.0.0.21??
This is referencing Barbara’s post. I too called LG support and asked about an updated version of Outlook Sync and was told that there was no update available. My issue is a 3 hour difference on some reoccuring appointments after upgrading to Version 07 on the Touch. Does anyone have a link to the non-existent upgrade out there?
I just got my Touch last night (verizon). Installed the USB driver and then the Outlook (2003) Sync. Works perfectly. One thing- it doesn’t show the LOCATION of the meeting unless it is in the meeting name. This is a huge miss, imho.
The sync works fine on my ENv 3 with the USB cable but does anyone know how to make it work with the Bluetooth interface?
