Interesting side effect. This driver (last link) also lets the USB charge the env3, where without it there was no sw, and no charge.
Neat!
If you have your mp3 files on your PC you can transfer them to the LG enV3 phone without using the Rhapsody software or downloading and installing a USB driver. Here is how on a PC with Win XP.
Insert Micro SD card in phone and format with memory menu.
Leave phone on.
Connect enV3 to PC with the USB cable (included in box).
Window opens up “New hardware found”. Close it.
On front screen of phone a menu appears “Music” or “Data”.
Select “Music” for mp3 files.
Window opens on PC screen titled “Portable Device”.
Select “Open device to view files using Windows Explorer”.
Window opens containing one item “External Memory”. This is your Micro SD memory card folder. Select it.
Blank window opens. Drag mp3 files from PC to this window.
When transfer complete disconnect phone from PC.
Open music menu on phone and your files will be listed ready to play.
PS. The USB cable also charged my phone.
What William says is true. I experienced the same thing with my env3 on a windows XP based PC.
Wondering if anyone knows how to manipulate images on the env3 by way of PC usb link? I would like to DL my images to my comp without having to message them to my email. I think BitPim could do it from what I hear, but that they haven’t made a workaround for the env3 yet…
I’ve found with my env3, I can save my pictures and videos to my microSD card, and then pop the card out of my phone, put it into a microSD to SD adapter, and simply plug it into my laptop. The files will then be stored in several folders, and should be completely readable. I’ve not had any luck with using my USB cable to download pictures out of my phone, though.
Newer USB drivers are available from the LG website. Go here: http://www.lge.com/us/mobile-phones/LG-VX9200-Blue.jsp then select the Resources tab. Version 4.9.4 is available there, compared to version 4.8.1 that is on this site. I do not know what the difference is.
I downloaded the usb driver, connected my LG, How do I upload my pictures? Help I’m Stuck
Yes K, I have the same problem, I can’t figure out how to download my pics without having to purchase a sd adapter.
Darn! My Env3 didnt COME with a USB to PC cable! Anybody else have this issue? I didnt even actually need cable until a few months after I bought phone (or notice it was MISSING), so I guess its too late to complain to them now. Figures. Just when I found some really kool ringtones that I can upload to my MP3 player.
Nope, didnt work. I fooled with it for over an hour to no avail. I plugged my Env3 (maroon) into USB port. Then selected “Music” to sync, (and cell brings a “SYNC MUSIC, V CAST MOBILE PHONE EXTERNAL MEMORY’ prompt)- but NO popup on PC indicating any portable devices. This is just ridiculous. Electronics should be more USER FRIENDLY! I tried to get around it in my Media player too- but no luck.
In response to “Darn! My Env3 didnt COME with a USB to PC cable!” Your power cord is your USB cable. Simply remove the cable from the adapter that plugs into the electrical outlet. I don’t have any answers about uploading pics yet. I just logged on to find the answers.
Okay, anyone with this problem? Computer reconizes phone as LGE CDMA USB Device and V Cast Media Manager searches and finds my phone. Everything is set to transfer music and pics and when I sync music, that is when the computer finds new hardware as a MTP Device and V Cast can no longer find my phone. After hours of tech support with Verizon, they say it’s a driver problem. Okay so I download the driver but when it starts to install…I get a Component Transfer Error. All I want is download my music. Does anyone have a suggestion?
just connect your env3 to your computer and do not do anything just exit out of the window that says to download it and got to my computer and you will see your phone as a portable device
This is not true. In setting and tools on the phone there is a section called USB mass storage device. When you click that it says its connected but windows does NOT recognize it. I already got the latest drivers from LG website as posted above. Stupid things like this show how lazy companies are. Why wouldn’t they want you to have this kind of access……
Maybe because it forces most people to buy from them through get it now. Thats what I think. I had great success with bitpim, this software worked great on my chocolate 2. Now with the ENV3 I thought it would be much more streamlined. Thanks for nothing LG.
I’ll just use my microSD to SD card and live with it. Just plain stupid if you ask me. Why even include a USB….Why.

After about three hours of tinkering I got it to work with windows 7 the right way As trulefty states. You will need 4.9.4 version And use the Menu/settings and tools/usb mass storage device. Let windows do its thing and I had to exit mass storage and reenter twice to make it work. But it does work and I renig anything I had previously stated. It does in fact work with WIN7.
A now Happy Verizon customer.
