I tried to use this site to update my Omnia i910. Don’t do it. It gets hung up at about 60% download complete and then just sits there. Mine stayed there for over 4 hours. I had no choice but to disconnect as I couldn’t leave it on the system at work for 4 days.(memorial weekend.) When I disconnected, it cleared everything from my phone including the old operating system. The phone doesn’t work at all now. Verizon said that it has a disclaimer that this download may not work. Well it doesn’t. Don’t do it. I went to a Droid. Awesome phone.

Good information. Currently I just got a Samsung Omnia SCH-i910 from the mail from ebay, and it at this time would seem that it’s at stock settings for your Verizon Network. I strategy to make use of this mobile phone on Metro PCS. I also desire to set Windows Mobile 6.five on right here, but I’m not certain which purchase I should do this in. Need to I acquire it to Metro PCS as is and have it activated, and then afterwards flash the ROM with 6.five? Or ought to I modify the ROM first after which it take it to Metro PCS? I’ve been seeking all-around and I’m unable to locate the solution to this.

In case anyone else out there is still trying the ROM update and having a hard time with Vista. I experienced the same issue as Kyle here after downloading both XP and 7/Vista versions of the EU Upgrade tool and was able to finally get it to work. After upgrading 2 phones, and loosing all my fingernails, i feel it was worth the stress. Performance and phone functionality are much improved not to mention I now have a GPS not limited to VZ Navigator. The upgrades were executed on a Vista Ultimate Laptop and I DID WHAT THEY TELL YOU NOT TO LET HAPPEN – i did this because the phone was inoperable anyway so i had nothing to loose.
the following describes what i had to do to to get it to work: I ran the tool (AS ADMINISTRATOR) until it wouldnt go beyond 60% for like a half hour and so i figured i was SOL, so i closed the upgrade program and said yes to the warning. Did a hard reset and waited for the Omnia splash screen then unplugged the cable (also popped the batter out to get it to turn off). Went into WM Device center connections and checked “allow USB Connections” and restarted the tool (phone off and unplugged). When the tool starts this time it showed an Emergency maintenance mode. At this point, I went back into the WM Device center and unchecked the “allow USB Connections” then followed the instructions and connected and powered up the phone (also tried a hard reset while connected). Actually had to do this several times to finally get the Upgrade tool past 60%, but it did finally work and it was pretty close to 8 or 9 minutes. Hope this helps someone else out there.

It worked flawlessly. My Omnia is blazing!

I forgot to say that after the upgrade my Active Sync 4.5 restored all of my messages, contacts, and calendar items!

I did forget about a few pictures I left on there but whatever.

    IT WORKS!

I had a hell of a time getting my i910 to update. First it would hang at 60% complete, then 10%, then 20-something. Not fun at all.
Trying all kinds of things didn’t help (it spent time in the freezer because I thought that it might have been overheating — it was crazy hot at one point) but in the end it looks like it had to do with the i910 not being happy about what USB port I was using — not that the one that worked was different in any way.

So if the resetting and restarting and battery out etc. etc. etc. isn’t working for you try switching USB ports.

Good luck! The upgrade is well worth the pain but MAN is it a lot of pain sometimes.
