Verizon Samsung Reality Tricks – Transfer MP3 Files

method 1: Sync Music

In order to use the Sync Music option, the PC must be loaded with Windows Media Player 10 or higher. To download Windows Media Player 10 or higher visit the following website: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ .

Important: The microSD memory card MUST first be formatted, by the handset, in order for the handset to create the destination folder my_music. Please note that the minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. Although the maximum size supported is a 16GB microSDHC memory card.

To sync MP3 files from Windows Media Player to the phone memory or memory card follow the steps below:

  1. From the standby screen, insure that the USB mode setting is set to either Media Sync Mode or Ask On Plug
    • For instructions on changing the USB mode setting, click here.
  1. Connect the USB cable to both the phone’s Power/Accessory Interface connector & the PC’s USB slot
  1. If prompted, select Media Sync Mode
  1. Open Windows Media Player 10 or higher then click on the Sync tab
  2. From the Windows Media Player application Sync tab, ensure that the SCH-U960 device displays in the upper-right corner of the screen. If not, click on Next device until the SCH-U820 appears.
  3. Click on the Library plus sign (+) then click on Songs to display a list
  4. Drag or Add the MP3 file(s) from the library to the Sync List or playlist
  5. Select Start Sync to transfer the MP3 file(s) to the handset memory or memory card
  6. After the file transfer is completed it will be safe to remove the USB data cable from both the handset & PC

Method 2: Memory Card

Important: The microSD memory card MUST first be formatted, by the handset, in order for the handset to create the destination folder my_music. Please note that the minimum size limit for the microSD memory card is 32MB. This phone does support the use of a microSDHC 32GB capacity memory card.

Note: The MP3 files MUST be located in the my_music folder on the memory card

Warning: Do not remove a microSD memory card from the handset or turn off the handset while data is being accessed or transferred. This could result in loss of data and/or damage to the memory card or to the handset.

To transfer MP3 files From a Memory Card to the handset memory follow the steps below:

  1. Insert the microSD memory card into a USB memory card reader. (Card readers vary and may require the use of an SD adaptor to accept the microSD memory card)
  2. On the PC, double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop and then double-click the drive letter assigned to the microSD memory card reader
  3. Copy and paste MP3 files from other folders on the PC to the “my_music” folder
  4. Remove the microSD memory card from the microSD memory card reader and, if necessary, the SD adaptor
  5. Pull out and up the memory card slot cover
  6. Insert the microSD memory card into the memory card slot
  7. While in standby mode, press Menu
  8. Press Media Center
  9. Press Music & Tones (1)
  10. Press My Music (4)
  11. Press My Music
  12. Tocuh Options
  13. Touch Move to Phone
  14. Touch each song to select or touch Move All
  15. Touch Done
  16. Press Yes to confirm moving the MP3 file to the phone memory

Method 3: Mass Sorage

To use the USB Mass Storage feature follow the steps below:+

  1. Connect the USB data cable to both the PC and handset
  2. From the home screen, press Menu
  3. Press Settings & Tools
  4. Press Tools (2)
  5. Scroll down then press USB Mass Storage (0)
  6. The display will now show “Connected to the PC…” Calls Disabled”
  7. The PC will now show a new removable disk in Windows Explorer
  8. Select the desired action (such as Open folder to view/copy files) and click OK
  9. After copying selected files from the PC to the microSD card, inserted in the phone, touch DISCONNECT on the phone to restore phone service then touch Yes to confirm

    I ordered a PREPAID. phone off of ebay.
    i got a booklet, the phone, the charger, and thats it. the phone doesnt even have a number yet. i need to set up my account, how can i do this? without going to the verizon store?
