It’s a good news for blind and visually impaired, a new service for the blind and visually impaired is annouced by Verizon Wireless today, which is called Talks. Talks is a new assistive technology that converts displayed text into highly intelligible speechconverts on-screen text into speech so the visually impaired will know what is on the screen. Talks will initially be available on the Motorola Q9c, which runs Windows Mobile. The Q9c with Talks will be available starting March 15 for $250 after rebates with new agreement.
Talks is able to search through contacts, compose SMS/MMS/email messages, interact with Mobile Office and mobile Internet Explorer. So that the users will enable to control the volume and rate of speech playback. It seems that The TALKS application helps Verizon Wireless provide the best wireless experience for our customers who are visually impaired. Hope it’ll not boast.
